I Found Thursday

I have been losing things lately!  Several times I have lost my To-Do list, and it's thrown my days completely off track.  I've also lost my memory so I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing without my list.  Two days ago I lost my iPhoto library, thanks to an unnamed child.  Luckily, my pictures are stored on an on-line album.

A couple weeks ago, I lost Rosie's Thursday day-of-the-week underpants.  She loves her day-of-the-week underpants and wears the correct underpant for the correct day.  Without Thursday, it was confusing and it messed up all the days.  I searched her drawers and Bud's drawers and Coleman's drawers.  I looked behind the dryer and under the beds.  Thursday was nowhere to be found.  One night I had a dream that I found Thursday and I was so excited, but, it was just a dream.  Yesterday, I caved in and bought Rosie new underpants.  That was the thing to do because today I found Thursday!  In a drawer I had already searched, I found Thursday, right on top of Rosie's ballet leotard.  Unfortunately, I fear the days-of-the-week underpants will never be worn again because now Rosie loves her new sparkly underpants.

Finding something that I had lost and had searched for was so surprising and happy that it brightened my whole day.  I had a smile on my face and a spring in my step.  Maybe everyone should lose something and then find it again, and find a little hope and happiness.

Coleman Strikes Out

To celebrate MLK Day, we decided to go bowling.  The first place we went was out of business, the second had an hour wait, but the third place had an open lane, just for us.  Everyone got fitted for shoes and picked out a ball.  Coleman picked up a very heavy ball and dropped it, luckily not on his foot.  We entered our names and started to bowl. Jono set Coleman up with a bowling ramp and on Coleman's first turn, he got a strike! We all clapped for him, but he was disappointed not to get a second turn.  He didn't get many second turns, he had five stikes in all and ended up bowling a 176!  It was so amazing.  He really got into it, he was fist pumping and giving everyone high fives.  It was so funny.

We bowled a second game, but Coleman lost his mojo.  He had more fun driving the car on the arcade game nearby.  This time the entertainer was Rosie.  She started off really well and was soon ahead of Bud.  The trash talking started!  She was taunting and teasing and it was all Bud could do to not physically start fighting her.  Then, in his last turn Bud pulled ahead and Rosie was devastated.  She cried and cried and cried and could not be consoled.  Jono, not hiding a smile, gave her the talk about trash talking.  "Rosie, if you are going to talk smack, you have to be able to back it up."  Bud learned a lesson also, the best way to deal with a talker, is points on the board.

Jen F. was above all the rivalry, and bowled two good games.  Jono, of course, is great at anything involving a ball.  He wants me to point out that the computer made a mistake and didn't calculate his score correctly in the last frame, it should be higher.  I had a great time with my camera, documenting the event.  It's all I ever want, to spend a day like this with my family.

At the Cabin

To celebrate the many January birthdays, Andrea and Greg invited us all to the Chapman cabin for the weekend.  We had a great time just hanging out and spending time together.  The cousins loved roasting marshmallows (with help from Jonny).  We did this before dinner, but the tacos were still eaten up in a hurry.  We also roasted marshmallows after dinner, made smores and ate Sara's famous chocolate cake.  Then, all the bigger cousins jumped into the hot tub.  I can't imagine there was much water left after 30 minutes of splashing, dunking and spraying.  The kids then roasted more marshmallows, and yes I ate some more!  Jono, Bud, Coleman and I didn't sleep over because Bud had an early morning Jr. Jazz game, but  Rosie stayed and entertained everyone else.  Sara has pictures on her blog of Saturday.  Thanks for a fun time at the cabin!

A Fun Afternoon of Sledding

Today Bud and the rest of the 4th grade went skiing at Snowbird.  He had so much fun, we all put on our boots and went to the sledding hill for more snow action.  Bud tried his skis for a while, then traded them for the tube.  The hill was very icy, slick and fast!  The kids loved going off the jumps.  The sun was shining and it was a beautiful afternoon.

Soon, guess who came walking down the street?  The birthday-girl Haley, Jonny and Bear! Jonny and Bear jumped right into the action and the day got even more fun.

Fearless Coleman went off this jump several times.
He got air every time!

Yeah, look who's here!
Bear and Jonny speeding down the hill.

Check out Bear riding the disk.
Bear is thinking, "What are you doing to me?!!"

Jonny had the great idea for this train of sledders.
Bear is ready to go again!

This is my favorite shot of the day, Bear chased Rosie
down the hill and then jumped over her!

Bud got serious hang time off this ramp.  What a fabulous afternoon!

So Sweet Sugar Bowl

We were all so excited to watch the Sugar Bowl!  As soon as coverage began, Jono was so sorry he and Bud didn't go.  We called Jonny (he was at the game) and he said the energy was electric. Like everyone else, we were amazed at Utah's first quarter.  We kept cheering and cheering!   The third quarter was a little nerve-racking, but the finish was awesome.  It was a great victory and a very happy night at the Oettli house!

Go Utes!
