Bud's Half Birthday

Somehow I never blogged about Bud on his birthday last summer, and his half birthday was back in January, but it's never too late, right?  Bud is 12 1/2 and such a great boy.  He is (mostly) very nice and kind, and is having a great year.

Bud played Junior Jazz basketball this year with his favorite friends, the Ashby boys.  They had a great team and really improved during the season.  (Thanks to two great coaches.)  Bud averaged 6 to 8 points a game and was the point guard for the team.  One game, he scored 20 points of the teams 26 total points!  (The Ashby boys were on vacation and Bud rose to the task of being "The Man".)  Bud recently challenged me to a game of one on one, first one to 10 wins.  I really felt like I could still beat him, but I was so wrong.  The score was 10 to 2; and I was lucky to score 2!

Bud's teacher at school is very academic and he has a lot of homework, emphasis on A LOT!  Most days after school he comes home and gets it done, but every once in a while it's a major struggle and hours and hours pass before he's finished.  His hard work (and my hard work) have paid off and he got a very good report card last month.  We are told that junior high is easy after this sixth grade year!

This winter, Bud participated in the ski program again and loved it.  He's participating debate again, which he also loves.  He is working hard on his Eagle Scout, it is a lot of work.  He goes to combined Young Men/ Young Women activites, passes the Sacrament and collects Fast Offerings.  A few weeks ago he went camping in Heber and slept in a snow trench.  He's a busy boy!
