We Give Thanks

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! It was our turn to host the Oettli family; Jono's brother Adam, his wife Amanda and their baby Connor came, along with Jono's aunt Toni Lee and uncle Roger. It was nice that we could all fit around the dining room table. The kids made really cute place cards out of beans and lentils, I wish I took a picture of them.

The story of our turkey is unusual: Jono won the turkey in a golf tournament! He got closest to the hole and won a 20 pound bird. It was delicious along with everything else. We have so much to be thankful for and love having a day to spend with family and loved ones to celebrate.

We put the turkey in bright and early. You can see in the picture Jono's secret to a great tasting turkey, lots of salt and fresh ground pepper. Another secret is to baste the turkey every half hour in its own juices. The kids love to help, especially Coleman. His favorite is peeling "tatoes". He eats them raw with lots of salt.
