Inside Elder Holland's Office

On Friday, June 20th, most of our family had the wonder privilege of meeting Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and listening to him set Dad and Mom apart to serve as Mission President and Sister in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania mission.  It was a very special and spiritual experience.

Elder Holland greeted us warmly and invited us to sit down.  After we were all seated, he took a long look at our family and said enthusiastically, "Holy smoke!  What a Summerhays circle!" He spoke to us about our parents serving a mission.  He said the toughest thing for them is leaving the grandkids.  But, by serving a mission, our parents are creating a legacy for our family.  We serve missions in our family!  This will be a powerful and permanent gift to the children and grandchildren.  Mom and Dad will be praying for us and we will be praying for them.
Elder Holland said we should plan on visiting them.  At Mom's prompting, Rosie told him she is "going to be baptized in Piggsburg!"  Elder Holland banged both hands loudly on his desk. He told Rosie she should be on the cover of the Church News.  She beamed.
Elder Holland gave Dad a beautiful blessings and promised him many wonderful things. Elder Jensen set Mom apart and blessed her with many great things also.  It was so amazing.   Elder Holland told Mom and Dad the highest compliment he could give them, is that he would want his own children to serve under them.  On our way out, Rosie said, "That man just kissed me!"  Elder Holland was so sincere, genuine, loving, friendly and kind.
