"What's this?", you ask. It's a toilet bowl overflowing with tissues! Coleman loves to clean up his messes with handfuls and handfuls of tissue. I don't like to waste so I collect them all in my bathroom to reduce, reuse, recycle. After I used the bathroom recently, Coleman wanted to flush the toilet. I said NO. I told him he had to actually go potty in the toilet to flush it. He was very angry with me and when I left the room, he filled the toilet with all the tissues I have been collecting so he could flush the toilet. Luckily, I noticed before he flushed, we would have had a major clog.
I just told Jono that Coleman was getting so much better when I took him places and jinxed myself. He was HORRIBLE during field day this week at school. I was in a classroom by myself with Coleman, passing out otterpops to one class at a time, for a 15 minute rotation, and Coleman was very mean to the students, who were in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. I'm not going to go into details, but the next day I was talking to another PTA mom on the phone and she said, "I heard about Coleman at field day." I was horrified! Had the students ratted him out, or the teachers? I think at this point, he has a really bad reputation at Oakwood Elementary. Coleman looks like a bruiser right now because he fell down the front porch steps and has a gash on his nose.
I have another Coleman story to share. He likes to play on Bud's top bunk, and yesterday he threw Bud's little clock point blank at Bud's head. Poor Bud had a big goose egg and was very angry with Coleman. Coleman knew what was coming next and cried, "No time-out, mom, no time-out!"
Bud, Rosie and I are starting to read the Book of Mormon. I was hoping to finish by Rosie's 8th birthday, but we'll be lucky if we finish by the time Grandma and Grandpa come home from their mission. It is really sloooow reading. But, the kids love it and really look forward to reading. One night, Jono was outside the kids' room while we were reading and Bud wondered, "Why doesn't Dad ever read scriptures with us? Does Dad even have scriptures?" That night Jono was shamed into reading scriptures with us.
We recently started going to a new ward and I called to talk to Rosie's teacher about something after her first time in Primary. I left the teacher a message and she later left me a message. The teacher said she thought Rosie would be shy and nervous, but no, she is not shy at all! She said Rosie has lots and lots of confidence and talks and sings. It was very funny, especially because I wondered about warning the Primary before we came about Rosie....
One last story, Jono and I are going out of town to Palm Springs and Jonnny, Haley, Grammy and Grampy are tending the kids. I asked Rosie if she felt sad. She replied that's she's counting the minutes hoping it will go by faster. I thought "how sweet" until I understood what she meant. Not the minutes while we are gone until we can return home again; the minutes until we leave and she can spend time with her babysitters!
