An Outing to the Zoo and the Cemetery

We spent an adventure-filled day with our cousins on Friday the 13th!  We started off at the Hogle Zoo where the favorite attraction was the new Carousel.  The kids rode multiple times (except Bud, who was too-cool and would rather hang out with JD).  Coleman's favorite animal to ride was the turtle and Rosie loved the Snow Leopard.  No one loved the Carousel more than Brady who rode it at least 5 times!

We stopped for lunch at the Oettli usual eating spot; the shady area above the giraffes. Everyone was starving.  JD tried to teach Bud to smash a can on his forehead, but Bud just ended up with a red bump.  After, we saw the rest of the animals and then stopped for lunch again.  Grampy bought us lots and lots of food, and it was soon gone!

From one adventure to another; we next drove to the cemetery by the U of U to see the deer. We saw a mother deer with newly born twins!  The kids jumped out to get a closer look. In a moment of weakness, I let Coleman out of the car to join the other kids.  The next thing I knew, I was chasing him as he rushed the mama deer.  She stood up to protect her babies, but Coleman kept coming closer to them.  I had to run as fast as I could to rescue him (or the babies).
Once safely back in the car, we could hear cheering nearby and left to investigate.  We drove by East High where the third High School Musical was being filmed in the football stadium.  It was the graduation scene and Brookelyn and Katelyn were so excited. Katelyn screamed, "This is the best day of my life!"  We drove though the parking lot and saw the craft service trucks and we thought we saw Corbin Bleu, but it wasn't him.  Then we were off again.
This time we went to the City Cemetery to see President Hinckley's grave.  It was beautiful and would have been a spiritual experience for all, if the sprinklers hadn't been on and the kids got soaking wet.  Oh well!  We also saw President McKay's grave and Dad's great-grandfather's grave Joseph William Summerhays and his wife Sarah Berrett.  It was a very fun (and long) day!

That was fun! We were exhausted after the zoo so I can't believe you kept on going.
